Hand Turned Ambrosia Maple Bowl

Unique bowl hand turned from Ambrosia Maple makes a perfect wedding, birthday, anniversary, Mother’s Day or holiday gift.

Ambrosia Maple is Soft Maple with a cream colored background which is host to a variety of greyish-blue to brown streaks that are caused by an infestation of the ambrosia beetle. The beetle burrows into the tree and leaves a fungus in its path, which is what creates the discoloration in the wood and creates a very unique pattern in each board. In most or all of the streaks there are tiny holes from where the beetle burrowed into the wood. Neither the fungus nor the holes disturb the integrity of the wood.

The bowl measures approximately 7-3/4″ across by 3-1/4″ high.

This bowl is food safe and can be used in the kitchen. Just treat it as you would a cutting board and keep it clean and conditioned. Also, even though it’s food safe, that doesn’t mean the kitchen is the only place for it. This bowl could easily add texture and warmth to any space in your home.

Because our pieces are turned and finished by hand, some roughness in the finish should be expected. Due to the nature of the wood there could be some imperfections.
